About the role: BayWa r.e. Solar Trade is looking for a skilled Global Procurement Manager to lead, manage and develop the strategic relationship of selected strategic suppliers in our core spend categories: inverters and storage. This role is instrumental in driving value through effective negotiation, vendor relationship management, and continuous performance improvement in close collaboration with our local procurement teams. The Senior Strategic Buyer will lead initiatives across our countries and entities to ensure product availability, competitive costs and agility to optimize supply and inventories in case of local or global demand or supply deviations.

What You Will Do

  • You will be part of the global category management team and take on the role of central lead buyer for strategic suppliers, ensuring alignment with the overarching category strategy
  • Your responsibilities include contributing to the development of category strategies and participating in supplier business reviews to support long-term supplier performance
  • You coordinate supplier relationship management across local procurement teams, acting as the main contact for supplier-related topics and ensuring consistent communication and issue resolution
  • You drive global cost optimization by implementing savings initiatives focused on Total Cost of Ownership, including pricing, logistics, bonuses and working capital
  • In collaboration with local teams, you lead or support commercial negotiations, develop strategic approaches to leverage global and local opportunities and manage bonus schemes effectively
  • You consolidate and analyze monthly demand and supply plans, optimize sourcing decisions and maintain close alignment with suppliers through regular forecast and inventory reviews
  • You monitor supplier performance across key KPIs, support development initiatives such as consignment stock and process improvements and assist in the contracting process including framework agreements and terms & conditions

Your Profile

  • You bring a proven ability to manage high-value supplier relationships across all organizational levels, including direct engagement with supplier top management
  • As a strong team player, you foster collaboration across diverse local teams, ensuring alignment, engagement and shared ownership of strategic objectives
  • You are experienced in strategic sourcing and procurement, with excellent negotiation skills and a deep understanding of pricing structures, rebates, landed costs and supply chain financing
  • Your approach is structured and data-driven, supported by strong capabilities in market analysis, spend reviews and performance tracking
  • You communicate clearly and solution-oriented, proactively addressing challenges and escalating issues appropriately when needed
    You are culturally adaptable and bring specific experience in managing supplier relationships in China; knowledge of the solar energy sector or distribution models is a strong asset
    Experiernce in PV inverter and storage solutions is a strong plus
    You hold a Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field and have at least 3 years of experience in strategic procurement or supply chain roles within international and renewable energy environments. Fluency in English is required; proficiency in German and/or Chinese is a strong advantage
