About the role: To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Data Protection, Information Governance and Recovery Lead (m/f/d) to join us in Tübingen with immediate effect. As part of a major IT carve-out, we are establishing an independent, high-performing, cloud-first IT organisation to support an internationally operating trading business. This role is a rare opportunity to help shape how information is governed, protected and managed across an entirely new technology landscape.

What You Will Do

  • Establish and continuously improve the company's Data Protection, Information Governance, Records Management, AI Governance and Recovery Governance frameworks
  • Define and govern data classification, retention, archiving, deletion and information lifecycle management standards across the organisation
  • Support GDPR compliance, audit readiness and regulatory requirements across IT services and platforms
  • Govern data protection requirements for AI and data-driven solutions while supporting responsible and compliant AI adoption
  • Define governance standards for backup, recovery, resilience, RPOs and RTOs to ensure business-critical information remains protected and recoverable
  • Develop governance controls, policies, reporting and audit evidence processes while driving remediation of compliance and governance gaps
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Cyber Security, IAM, Cloud, M365, Data & Analytics and Application teams to embed governance requirements across the technology landscape
  • Govern third-party service providers, monitoring service quality, compliance obligations, risk indicators and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to the IT carve-out and future operating model, helping build a scalable, cloud-first organisation and continuously improving governance maturity and automation

What You Will Bring

  • Several years of experience in Information Governance, Data Protection, Data Governance, IT Compliance, IT Risk or a related discipline, ideally within complex international organisations
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR, backup, disaster recovery, cyber recovery and business resilience governance, compliance controls, audits and enterprise data protection requirements, combined with excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Experience designing and implementing governance frameworks, policies and controls, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical business solutions
  • Ideally, experience with Microsoft Purview, Information Protection, Records Management, AI Governance, ISO 27001, NIS2, DPIAs, cloud environments and transformation, carve-out or M&A programmes, supported by relevant certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CDMP, CRISC, ISO 27001 or ITIL

What We Are Ready To Offer You

  • Flexible working hours, mobile working and modern workplace equipment
  • 30 days of vacation
  • Discounted online shopping through our Corporate Benefits Portal
  • Hybrid work schedule with possibility to work remotely
  • Subsidy for the Germany Ticket, and e-charging stations in the free company parking
  • Last but not least: you are driving forward the energy transition as part of a great team and ensuring that our future becomes a little greener

Is This Role The Right Fit For You?

This is more than a governance role. It is an opportunity to build an enterprise capability from the ground up and shape how data, information and AI are governed across a newly created organisation. Your work will have a lasting impact on compliance, resilience, data protection, business continuity and responsible innovation.

You will create structure where none exists today, establish the standards and governance frameworks that will guide the organisation for years to come, and help shape a modern, cloud-first information landscape based on Microsoft’s modern cloud stack.

If the opportunity to build, influence and lead excites you more than simply maintaining the status quo, and you enjoy turning complexity into clear, scalable governance, we would love to hear from you.
